Israel Studies in Language and Society, the official journal of the "Israel Association for the Study of Language and Society", is an internet-based, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal published on a regular basis, featuring research on the multiplicity of languages spoken in Israel at the interface between language and society.
The journal welcomes articles on the interaction of language and society from varied disciplines such as linguistics, sociology, anthropology, communication, education, translation, etc., as well as interdisciplinary articles written from theoretical, empirical, and descriptive points of view.
The journal has also produced special issues on Voice in Contemporary Israeli Society, Visualization in Discourse and Communication, Narrative Inquiry, Language and Sexuality, Political Discourse, Authoritative Groups (cults), and Speech after October 7th. In recent years, the journal has also accepted articles on social media networks, multimodal discourse, and figurative language.
As of the 15th issue, the journal features new section showcasing interviews with leading Israeli scholars who work at the interface between language and society.
