"עיונים בשפה וחברה" הוא כתב העת של האגודה הישראלית לחקר שפה וחברה. זהו כתב עת רב-תחומי, שפיט, המופיע על בסיס קבוע, ומציע במה אקדמית לחוקרים מכל העולם העוסקים בלשונות השונות המדוברות בישראל והנמצאות בממשק בין שפה וחברה.
מתפרסמים בו מאמרים העוסקים בקשר בין שפה וחברה בתחומי חקר כגון בלשנות, סוציולוגיה, אנתרופולוגיה, תקשורת, חקר השיח, חינוך, תרגום ועוד.
כתב העת מקדם בברכה מאמרים המציעים חיבורים רב-תחומיים מן הבחינות התאורטית, האמפירית והתיאוּרית. בשנים האחרונות נוספו לתחומי הכתיבה הרב-תחומיים של "עיונים בשפה וחברה" מאמרים שמתמקדים בשיח ברשתות חברתיות, בהיבטים שונים של רב-מודליות, ובשימושים בשפה פיגורטיבית.
כתב העת יוזם לעתים גיליונות מיוחדים, שהובילו בעבר לאסופות של מאמרים עדכניים בנושאים כגון: קול בחברה הישראלית העכשווית, ויזואליזציה בשיח ובתקשורת במוסדות, מחקר נרטיבי, שפה ומיניות, שיח פוליטי, שיח כתות, שיח מצוקה בחברה הישראלית, לדבר אחרי 7 באוקטובר.
החל מגיליון 15, נוסף לכתב העת מדור המתמקד בראיונות עם חוקרים ישראלים מובילים בתחום שפה וחברה.
כתב העת מבקש להרחיב את שורת הכותבים ותחומי הנושאים העוסקים בהיבטים שונים של השפה והחברה בישראל, כפי שהם מתבטאים בשיח הדבור, הכתוב והמקוון במסגרות המדיה השונות.

Israel Studies in Language and Society, the official journal of the "Israel Association for the Study of Language and Society", is an internet-based, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal published on a regular basis, featuring research on the multiplicity of languages spoken in Israel at the interface between language and society.
The journal welcomes articles on the interaction of language and society from varied disciplines such as linguistics, sociology, anthropology, communication, education, translation, etc., as well as interdisciplinary articles written from theoretical, empirical, and descriptive points of view.
The journal has also produced special issues on Voice in Contemporary Israeli Society, Visualization in Discourse and Communication, Narrative Inquiry, Language and Sexuality, Political Discourse, Authoritative Groups (cults), and Speech after October 7th. In recent years, the journal has also accepted articles on social media networks, multimodal discourse, and figurative language.
As of the 15th issue, the journal features new section showcasing interviews with leading Israeli scholars who work at the interface between language and society.
